Treatment 1 - Thriller Opening

Treatment for Thriller Opening

Title for thriller:

Suspense

Mise en scene:

Starts off with a flash back of someone out of breath and shows them running in a dark place – maybe an alley, being chased by another person wanting to kill him/her but gets away. It then comes up with 12 months later and there is somebody looking down the scope of a rifle. (Do this by using a filter and make it look like a rifle) The rifle is pointing at a person walking a dog/having a picnic (undecided on whether it is boy or girl) – close up. Establishing shot of trees (In a wood) and hear a gun shot. There is then silence and title of film comes up followed by the credits.

Shot sizes:

It will start off with somebody running out of breath, we will use pan shot to do this. It then goes to close up of the person chasing the other person. It then comes up with 12 months later and fades in to the next scene. It then goes to extreme close up of person looking through the rifle. It then goes to an establishing shot of the trees. The film title then comes up and the last scene fades to black.

Sounds:

Use natural sounds e.g. somebody out of breath, footsteps. We will also use some sort of music, to build suspense. (Made on keyboard) Also the sound of a gunshot. When the credits come up at the end, we will use some music which will sounds eerie.

Fonts:

For the title of the film, we will use bold, black writing. Just use a plain font style, which will look plain but simple. The credits will be the same as well.
