The music starts off quite fast and sounds kind of fluttery – goes with the writing about butterflies. It makes you wonder why butterflies have such a significance in the film. The writing is quite bold and has a black background – already setting up a mystery.
The writing then fades into the scene quite slowly. It then starts to show some sort of image, you can just about make out what the images are.
There is a distorted image of a person, which makes it uncomfortable to watch, as you do not know what is going on.
There is quite a dark setting and the clothes are quite bright, which makes them stand out on the person.
The music starts off quiet – then gets faster and louder as he gets nearer to the door- uses pan shot throughout the scene.
When near the door, you can make out that it says ‘Dr’ - This shows that he is either a patient or just a person trying to break in. The music then gets faster and louder again as he kicks the door.
When the door has been kicked open, you can tell by his clothes that he is a patient of some sort – makes people wonder what is wrong with him and why he is there. Even though he is a patient – the fact that he kicked open the door makes you know that he is not supposed to be there.
The music gets faster again as he hides and shows that he doesn’t want to be followed or found. He then grabs a box – what is its importance?
You then hear people shouting – obviously being followed. He then starts writing – says something about a plan – what plan?
He then goes on to say, “I’d be already dead” – why would he be dead? This sets up an enigma.
There is a close up of ‘SAVE HER’ – who is she? What is her importance? And how can she be saved?
Shows that the paper breaks away and looks torn.
Shows a black background and butterflies fluttering away.
Goes into an image of a brain scan – butterfly fits perfectly into it.
If you look at the top left side of the brain – it shows that there is some sort of lump, maybe a tumor?
Could give away that he is in a mental hospital?
