Evaluation
In our continuity exercise, we thought that we were able to keep the flow of the piece we recorded. We used a range of shot sizes in the continuity exercise. It was a simple idea that worked because we didn’t have to do things that were too complicated. It didn’t take us very long to film or edit, as it was simple as well. As this is the first time we have really filmed anything, we thought that it went as well as it could have gone really.
We thought that with trying to use pan shot, it was quite shaky so would have been better to use a tripod. With there only being two people in the group, it was harder to film as we could not use over the shoulder shots. This was because one of us always had to hold the camera. Instead of using over the shoulder shots we used shot reverse shot in conversation. When we are having the conversation towards the end of the film, we could have used a variety of different shot sizes, instead we just used one shot size as it made it easier for us to film.
If we had to do this continuity exercise again, we would have made sure that there would have been more people in the group to help us film. It would have made it a lot easier for us, as we wouldn’t have had to be in the film ourselves. We would have made sure we used a lot more shot sizes, even though the shot sizes we did were ok, we would have experimented a little bit more to make sure that it looked more interesting. Even though it was fairly easy to film, we would have liked it to be a little bit more adventurous as we could have done a lot more with more people in the group.
